Despite coronavirus and its ongoing overall impact, the Emporia Arts Center is busy at the start of 2021.
Gallery Coordinator Shayli Gentry says gallery exhibits continue, with one “Roses and Thorns III,” underway through Feb. 26. A formal opening reception is Feb. 5.
In addition, the Arts Center has put up a “Stick Together” sticker mural where anybody can come in and bring in one sticker to help create a new community art piece.
Gentry says there seems to be increased interest in artistic projects over the past 10 months, and there are apparently several reasons why.
Several waves of coronavirus over the past 10 months have forced the Arts Center to reconfigure the performing arts schedule. That work continues at this time and a new schedule will be announced later this year.
