The Emporia High boys wrestling team finished in 5th place in the Emporia Duel tournament Saturday. The Emporia High girls finished in 1st place at the Independence Invitational.
The Spartans were defeated by Dodge City 47-33, Derby 48-36, Junction City 42-36, and Bishop Carroll 65-14.
Bobby Trujillo at 182 pounds and Dylan Stopp at 220 pounds were undefeated at 4-0. Ethan Garate at 170 pounds finished with a 3-1 record and was also a champion.
Derby won the team championship.
The Lady Spartans had 3 individual championships, Madelynn Griffin at 120 pounds, Hannah Boa at 143 pounds, and Megan Olson at 235 pounds.
