Based on the most recent models, parts of the KVOE listening area north of Emporia will get a glancing blow from a potent winter storm approaching the state.
Winter weather advisories have been announced for Morris and Wabaunsee counties from 3 am to 6 pm Monday. Those counties could see 1-3 inches of snowfall and up to 0.1 inches of ice accumulations.
To the south, including Emporia, cold rain and drizzle are expected. Close to an inch of rain is possible. Temperatures should stay above freezing Sunday night and climb to around 40 degrees Monday, so the likelihood of any snowfall is low.
Further north, across north-central and northeast Kansas, the story is different. Up to 9 inches of snow are possible.
We’ll have updates as warranted on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
