The winter weather advisory for areas to our north and northwest has been extended.
Morris and Wabaunsee counties are now in an advisory until midnight. The original expiration time was 6 pm. The move reflects a gradual changeover from rain to a wintry mix of precipitation and later to snow for both counties. It also reflects a lower potential snow total than first thought — less than an inch of snow instead of 1-3 inches. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is also possible.
Area residents that are not in a winter weather advisory, including those in Lyon County, can expect light to moderate rain for most of the day. A thunderstorm or two also can’t be ruled out before conditions start drying out Monday evening.
