A preliminary hearing is coming next month for a woman accused of taking her grandchild for longer than allegedly agreed last week.
Jessica Downs faces one count of aggravated interference with parental custody for allegedly keeping a 2-year-old boy from Jan. 16 to at least Jan. 20, two days longer than a reported visitation agreement with the biological mother. The case gained the attention of Emporia Police, which put out a public call for information before the toddler was found in Emporia, and Lyon County Crime Stoppers, which issued a reward for information in the case.
Downs’ prelim is Feb. 10.
