Activities are underway for Emporia State University’s annual celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Director of Diversity Student Programs Teresa Taylor Williams says a rolling tribute message is available online from Young Alum Ralvell Rogers II. On Thursday night, there will be a special discussion with Oscar Award-winning film director Kevin Wilmot starting at 7 pm. Williams says the switch to a virtual-only format was stressful but beneficial.
In addition, Feb. 2 will have a town hall — “Leadership in the Midst of Chaos.” The online discussion will feature a look at King’s legacy and how it connects to the goals and objectives of the Kansas Leadership Center.
A racial healing safe space group has started weekly meetings this week. That process will continue at 5 pm Tuesdays through April 20. Special virtual exhibits are also available through the Special Collections and Archives Department through February.
