The Kansas Court of Appeals Nominating Commission has finalized its list of choices to fill a spot on the appellate court.
Judge Rhonda Mason of Olathe has been named a finalist to replace Judge Steve Leben, who retired last summer. Previously, the board approved Russell Keller of Fairway and Leslie Isherwood of Wichita for approval by Governor Laura Kelly and final confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
Meanwhile, the Nominating Commission has finished its work with the court vacancy to be filled after Melissa Taylor Standridge moved to the Kansas Supreme Court. Keller is a finalist for that position, as is Angela Coble of Salina and Jacy Hurst of Lawrence. Kristen Wheeler, an Emporia native and the daughter of Lyon County Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler, was a semifinalist for that position.
