A Wabaunsee County man suffered minor injuries after a rollover crash outside Emporia early Friday.
Lyon County Detective Sgt. Jacob Welsh says the wreck in the 2000 block of Burlingame Road, about two miles northeast of Emporia, happened shortly before 4:30 am. 56-year-old Darrel Spradling of Paxico was southbound and swerved to miss a skunk in the road. In the process, he lost control, went into a ditch and overturned.
Spradling was treated at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time.
Welsh says deputies are reminding residents that they shouldn’t try to swerve out of the way if they encounter animals on the road. There is the possibility of swerving into oncoming traffic or overcorrecting.
