The Emporia State University Music Department’s latest effort to support their students kicks off Monday.
Following the cancellation of the department’s annual fundraising gala concert due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the department developed a special scholarship fundraising drive which has been titled “We Love our Music Students” in honor of February being the month of love. Music Department Chair Dr. Alan Comstock recently joined KVOE’s Morning Show to discuss the fundraiser and explains it will feature a month’s worth of special videos available to the general public.
The videos will include performances and testimonials of Emporia State Music students and performers discussing the importance of scholarships for their continued progress as musicians. Donors will also receive a special video upon their donation from the music department featuring performances by staff members as a thank you for their support.
Comstock says the goal for the fundraising drive is $10,000 with funds available to all students involved in the music department regardless of their major.
