Wednesday will be a busy day for Emporia City Commissioners.
Following their first quarterly joint meeting with the Lyon County Commission Wednesday morning, commissioners will then convene for their regularly scheduled action meeting. Among the items up for approval will be an ordinance for the creation of Flint Hills Crossing, the community improvement district poised to bring Quik Trip to Emporia.
Additionally, commissioners may approve a memorandum of understanding with the Emporia Country Club for the construction of a new pickleball court. Emporia City Commissioner Becky Smith says if the project were approved, the city would not have to start from scratch thanks to work already done at the country club.
In other business, commissioners will also consider approval of an agreement with Municipal H20 for the preparation of a risk and resilience and emergency response plan for the city’s water treatment plan. An amendment to city code regarding hosting minors consuming alcohol, a real estate donation agreement with the Emporia Country Club and the awarding of a bid for new police vehicles will also be up for consideration.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
