Emporia’s Friendship Center is partnering with the Kansas Food Bank to offer monthly food boxes to low-income seniors.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program is available for people age 60 and who meet income requirements based on household size. Seniors need to provide a valid ID, proof of income including a Social Security statement and proof of address. They also need to fill out an application.
Packages can include a range of food products, including nonfat dry or ultra-high-temperature fluid milk, juice, farina, oats, ready-to-eat cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned meat, canned poultry, canned fish, canned fruits and canned vegetables.
Interested seniors need to call the Kansas Food Bank at 316-265-3663 to apply.
