USD 253 Emporia is changing plans for its next two board meetings.
With the search for a new superintendent about to move into the interview stage, the board is planning to concentrate on the search process for its next meeting this upcoming Wednesday. The budget study session, which was also part of the original plan for the meeting next week, will now take place at the Feb. 24 meeting.
Meanwhile, candidate interviews will take place the week of Feb. 15. The district says each interview meeting will take place from 5:30-8 pm and will take place in executive session, so they will not be live-streamed to the public.
The district is in the process of replacing Kevin Case, who served as superintendent from July 2016 to November 2020.
Separately, the district is reminding parents of elementary students to go to the district’s website, www.usd253.org, and fill out an online form if they want to change learning plans for the third and final trimester of the school year. The deadline is Feb. 12. A similar form for Emporia Middle School and Emporia High School students will be activated Feb. 11.
