Lyon County Deputies have apprehended the suspect believed to have made an “imminent threat” against Northern Heights High School.
The suspect’s name has not been released, however, they have been identified as a 16-year-old male according to Lyon County Detective Sgt. Jacob Welsh. The individual allegedly made a threat against the school via social media which was brought to the attention of the administration just prior to the start of school.
The threat then triggered a full lockdown for the high school. According to Welsh, they believe the individual in custody acted alone and there were no others involved.
The investigation is ongoing. We will have more details as they become available.
9 am Thursday:
Northern Heights High School was briefly on lockdown after a reported social media threat against the school.
Superintendent Bob Blair says the threat was reported to school administrators just before the start of school. Lyon County deputies responded to offer additional security at the school.
The student allegedly responsible for the threat was off school grounds and was taken into custody at another location. Deputies are investigating at this time.
Blair says students and staff did not face any threat during the incident. Additional details are pending.
