The Emporia High boys wrestling team takes its first step toward earning a spot at state Friday at regionals.
The Spartans will be 1 of 8 teams at the Andover hosted regional. 3 of the schools are ranked, Ark City, Andover, and Newton. There are 22 ranked wrestlers in this regional including Emporia Highs Xerarch Tungjaroenkul at 145 pounds.
Senior Ethan Garate is focused on making his 3rd trip to state.
The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class will advance to next weeks Sub-State tournament.
The Emporia High girls will be hosting a regional tournament Saturday.
