The Emporia State womens basketball team defeated Lincoln 90-57 Saturday to improve t0 14-4.
The Lady Hornets trailed after the 1st quarter 21-20. They outscored the Blue Tigers 20-12 in the 2nd quarter to build a 40-33 halftime lead.
In the 3rd quarter, the Lady Hornets blitzed Lincoln 29-9 to put the game out of reach.
It was a 2nd half Coach Toby Wynn had been waiting for.
Ehlaina Hartman scored a game-high 26 points to led Emporia State.
Fredricka Sheats had her 4th consecutive double-double finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Tre’Zure Jobe finished with 21 points. Daley Handy grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and finished with 8 points.
Defensively Emporia State held Lincoln to 27 percent shooting for the game.
Lincoln won the mens game 84-58. The Blue Tigers would take advantage of an 8-minute stretch without a field goal in the 2nd half by Emporia State to blow the game open.
Emporia State trailed by 12 at halftime and cut the deficit to 7 after starting the 2nd half on a 5-0 run. Then they hit the dry spell.
Lincoln shot 49 percent from the floor and made 12 three-point baskets.
Coach Craig Doty said there were not a lot of positives to talk about.
Jumah’Ri Turner led Emporia State in scoring with 20 points. Austin Downing added 10.
Lincoln was led by Quinton Drayton with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hornets fall to 8-9 for the season.
The Emporia State men are scheduled to host Northeastern State Tuesday night.
Both the women and men are scheduled to host Northwest Missouri State Thursday and Missouri Western next Saturday.
