Four Emporia State University alumni have been named recipients of the 2021 Kansas Horizon Award.
The recipients include:
*2006 ESU graduate Sarah Kennedy, a current second-grade teacher at West Indianola Elementary School in Seaman USD 345.
*2017 ESU graduate Ruochen “Charlie” a special education teacher at Eudora High School in Eudora USD 491.
*2019 ESU graduate Rebekah Wendland currently a history at Derby High School in Derby USD 260.
*1995 ESU graduate Tricia Wyckoff a PreK-Kindergarten teacher at Southeast Elementary School in Southeast USD 247.
The Horizon Award program is a regional competition that recognizes educators outstanding teachers that have completed their first year in education. The alumni are among 32 first-year educators across four regions to receive the award this year.
