Public Works Crews have finished repairs on a broken water line that developed in East Emporia Tuesday morning.
The break was reported on East just north of Fifth around 10 am. Public Works Director Dean Grant says issues developed on the Bunge crush facility property and then translated to a nearby waterline. There were at least two areas of bubbling water in Bunge’s west parking lot observed by KVOE News and the company’s west parking lot was largely covered by water around 10:30 am.
Public Works crews had to excavate around the line to make repairs with work wrapping up around 3:30 pm according to Grant. The cause of the break is undetermined at this time.
11 am Tuesday: WEATHER: Bunge west parking lot, part of East Avenue impacted by waterline issues
A significant and somewhat complicated waterline issue has developed in east Emporia.
A break was reported on East just north of Fifth around 10 am. Public Works Director Dean Grant says issues developed on the Bunge crush facility property and then translated to a nearby waterline. There were at least two areas of bubbling water in Bunge’s west parking lot observed by KVOE News and the company’s west parking lot was largely covered by water around 10:30 am.
Bunge has not confirmed any operations adjustments directly related to the water issues, but phone service was down and power was offline for a time Tuesday morning. Questions about the immediate situation and upcoming response needs have been directed to the corporate office, and so far there has been no response to a KVOE News email seeking an update.
Grant says Public Works crews will have to excavate around the broken waterline. Estimated repair times are pending.
