Friday marks 156 years since the start of classes at Emporia State University, then known as Kansas State Normal School, and all residents are invited to celebrate with a unique Founder’s Day event.
This year’s Founder’s Day Celebration is going virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, ESU Alumni Relations Director Jose Feliciano, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, says the program will still mirror those of year’s past. In addition to honoring those who established Kansas State Normal School back in 1863, the program will also include the presentation of the annual 1863 scholarship essay contest as well as student performances and a celebration of generosity through planned giving by the Kellogg Society.
Feliciano says there is also a very special announcement planned for the festivities.
The virtual celebration is scheduled to begin at noon and can be viewed online at Emporia.edu/Live.
