The Emporia High girls basketball team extended their winning streak to 5 in a row with a 49-33 win over Topeka West Friday night.
The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the night.
Rebecca Snyder led the offense with 21 points. Gracie Gilpin added 13 points. The Emporia High girls with the win locked up the number 1 seed for sub-state.
The Lady Spartans have 2 games left in the regular season and Coach Carolyn Dorsey wants to close out the season strong.
The Emporia High girls are 12-6 for the season.
In the boys game, Topeka West held a 22-7 lead after the first quarter and went on to outscore Emporia High 60-46.
After trailing 38-15 at halftime Emporia High would outscore West 31-22 in the 2nd half which was a bright spot for Coach Beau Welch.
Charles Snyder led the Spartans in scoring with 13 points and surpassed the 1000 point mark for his career.
Parker Leeds finished with 11 points.
The Emporia High girls play at Topeka Hayden Monday. The boys play at Hayden on Tuesday.
