Sophomore Tre’Zure Jobe scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Emporia State women to a 69-58 win over Northwest Missouri State Thursday night.
It was a close game early featuring 5 ties and 10 lead changes.
Northwest was able to stay close by making 16 three-point shots.
Emporia State would take control in the 4th quarter outscoring the Bearcats 22-15.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said they were better defensively in the 2nd half.
Ehlaina Hartman added 13 points and had a game-high 4 steals.
Daley Handy and Karsen Schultz both scored 10 points.
The Emporia State women improve to 15-4 for the season.
Northwest Missouri State won the mens game 69-62.
The Emporia State men trailed by 2 at halftime 34-32. They tied the game at 54 with just over 5 minutes to play.
They trailed by 1 60-59 with under 3 minutes to play.
Northwest closed out the game with a 9-3 run.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty was pleased with the effort.
Austin Downing scored 23 points, Jumah’Ri Turner added 14 points and Mayuom Buom finished with 12 points.
Northwest was led by Ryan Hawkins with a game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hornets are now 8-10 for the season.
Both the Emporia State women and men are scheduled to host Missouri Western Saturday.
