The investigation continues into a semi crash that killed and injured several hogs northeast of Emporia on Tuesday morning.
The crash on the Kansas Turnpike happened around 7:15 am about 30 miles northeast of Emporia. The driver, 32-year-old Edgar Borunda-Ochoa of Fort Morgan, Colorado, was northbound when he ran off the highway for unlisted reasons. His semi hit a delineator post and guardrail before striking a culvert and tipping over.
Borunda-Ochoa suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital afterward. The Kansas Turnpike Authority says the number of dead or injured hogs may not be known until Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a wreck involving a hog-hauling semi in western Osage County from Tuesday morning.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority says the northbound wreck happened almost 30 miles northeast of Emporia around 7 am. It’s too early to say how the crash happened, but there are dead and injured hogs as a result. Numbers are pending with the crash investigation into its early stages.
No injuries to humans have been announced.
