The ongoing coronavirus pandemic — and the longstanding financial impact it has had on many people — has prompted Evergy to extend its moratorium on service disconnections.
Evergy’s moratorium now goes through May 2. It is also waiving late fees while the moratorium is in place. External Communications Manager Gina Penzig:
The brutal cold that blanketed Kansas almost two weeks ago likely won’t help them get back on track, so Penzig is asking customers to consider a 12-month payment plan if they are not already on one. Payment arrangements can be set up over the phone by calling 800-383-1183 or online at www.evergy.com.
Evergy is also directing customers to seek out community social service agencies that may be of help. People can find out more by calling 2-1-1 or by going to Evergy’s Bill Relief Options page. Click here for that link.
The moratorium was first announced last March. It was put on hold in mid-July but was reinstated shortly before Thanksgiving.
