A special breakfast will be kicking off a fundraising campaign all to support the efforts of local scouts later this week.
The annual Friends of Scouting Breakfast is coming up this week. The breakfast will take place Wednesday, Mar. 3 and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will be held virtually this year. This means those wishing to attend can enjoy breakfast in their own homes and tune into the event via Zoom.
The breakfast serves as the official kickoff to the 2021 Friends of Scouting Campaign. Organizer and ESB Financial CEO Jim Wayman says Friends of Scouting provide scouts with a number of “resources they need to succeed.”
Wayman adds the pandemic limited popcorn sales last year which is a major fundraiser that helps to provide for outdoor activities and summer camp opportunities for scouts. With that in mind, he says this year’s campaign is all the more important.
The featured speaker for the Friends of Scouting Breakfast will be Flint Hills Technical College President Dean Hollenbeck. The virtual event will run from 7 am to 8 am.
