Fire crews made quick work of a grass fire east of Emporia Sunday afternoon.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids firefighters were called to 2249 Road 170, roughly 5 miles east of Emporia, Sunday afternoon after a controlled burn became out of control. The fire burned about five acres before it was extinguished.
Emporia Fire crews were called out as automatic aid but we’re cancelled enroute. No injuries or structure damage were reported.
Lyon County Deputies also assisted at the scene.
