The Friends of the Plains Dinner is the latest local event to go virtual as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
Emporia State University’s Center for Great Plains Studies made the announcement Thursday morning. This follows the cancellation of last year’s dinner, also due to COVID-19.
The event will be held on Zoom at 6:30 pm April 23. Center director Max McCoy will deliver the State of the Plains address. Local musician Joe Foster will provide entertainment.
Reservations can be handled online at www.emporia.edu/cgps and then choosing the Friends of the Plains link. Reservations are $75 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Center for Great Plains and its work. Participants will get a sampler box including items from the Granada Coffee Company, Sweet Granada and Vault Meats and Cheeses as well as a Tallgrass Writing Workshop field journal and a year’s subscription to Great Plains Traverse magazine.
