A sentence was handed down Friday in the case of a man who led authorities on a chase across parts of several counties last year.
Lyon County Judge Jeff Larson sentenced 28-year-old Joshua Forero to 12 months in prison on a single count of felony flee and elude. Prosecutor Ashley McGee requested prison, citing at least two other prior flee and elude convictions in Forero’c criminal history.
Forero will also have 12 months of postrelease supervision.
Forero led a chase from Emporia to Franklin County after a suspicious van was reported in Emporia’s Dollar Tree parking lot over the Memorial Day weekend last year. The chase also went through parts of northwest Emporia before leaving town on Interstate 35 through parts of Coffey and Osage counties before coming to an end near Wellsville. He accepted a plea agreement in January.
