The Emporia State softball team picked up 2 wins on day 1 of the 5 State Classic being played at the Trusler Sports Complex Friday.
The Lady Hornets defeated Concordia St. Paul 3-1.
Roni Rains was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI. One of her hits was a solo home run.
Roni Rains also had a big hand in the Lady Hornets 9-0 win over Minnesota State Moorehead.
She drove in 3 of the runs as part of 7 run 3rd inning with a double and a single.
Kerrigan Dixon was the winning pitcher giving up no runs on 2 hits.
Emporia State Coach April Rosales called it a good day.
Saturday Emporia States softball team plays Missouri St. Louis at 3 pm and Southwest Baptist at 5:30p.
