An undisclosed malfunction led to a fire that destroyed a tractor in Hartford late Saturday morning.
Lyon County Fire District 5 was called to the 2200 block of Road 105, near the Hartford city limits, shortly after 11:30 am. According to District 5 Fire Chief Greg Zumbrunn crews found a fully engulfed John Deere tractor in the middle of the roadway and were able to extinguish the flames.
Zumbrunn says the fire was caused by a malfunction of some kind and the tractor was a total loss. The tractor’s estimated value was $28,000 according to Zumbrunn.
No injuries were reported. Lyon County Deputies and Flint Hills Refuge Firefighters also responded to the call.

Area firefighters are currently on scene of a tractor fire that developed just before noon Saturday.
Crews were called to the 2200 block of Road 105, right near the Hartford city limits, shortly after 11:30 am. The initial report indicated a John Deere tractor was in the middle of the roadway fully engulfed in flames.
