2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the Humane Society of the Flint Hills and there are a number of plans in the work to commemorate the milestone.
As part of its 50-year celebration, the Humane Society is wishing to share “50 shelter stories” from residents who have adopted pets from the Emporia Animal Shelter. Humane Society Director Stephanie Achille.
Achille also says the Humane Society is hoping to have 50 adoption sponsors this year. According to Achille adoption sponsorships have been down in recent years.
Achille explains the sponsorships are essentially “specified donations.”
Achille is pleased to announce the Shelter will be extending its hours in April which will include more walk-in hours which were all but eliminated over the past year due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
In other good news the City of Emporia will be extending the Humane Society’s contract for overseeing the Emporia Animal shelter for the next three years in April.
