It was a good weekend for the Emporia State Softball team, they finished the 5 State Classic with a 5 and 1 record.
Their lone loss was to Wayne State on Sunday. Wayne State outscored the Lady Hornets 7-5. Emporia State did have the tying runs on base when the game ended.
Emporia State closed out the tournament with a 5-1 win over Quincy. The Lady Hornets scored 3 runs in the 6th inning. Destiny Ojigoh drove in 2 of the runs with a double.
Josie Harrison was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 4 hits.
Lady Hornet Coach April Rosales said they took some big steps over the weekend.
The Emporia State softball team is 10-2 for the season. They are scheduled to open MIAA play this Friday and Saturday at Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern.
