SOS staffers are getting settled into their new environs at 1420 C of E Drive.
Staffers began moving from different locations in Emporia around the first of the year as part of the Stronger Together capital campaign to buy and renovate the property on C of E Drive. During KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday, Director Connie Cahoone said the increased space at the SOS Community Advocacy and Service Complex is coming at a good time because the demand for services hasn’t waned at all this year.
Work continues for the shelter and Crisis Services, with work continuing on an elevator and a new parking lot. Cahoone says the changes are designed to make life easier for clients and staff alike.
Fundraising continues through the Stronger Together capital campaign and is now nearing goal of better than $4 million. Around $50,000 is left to finish that process. Initially, the goal was around $2.9 million, but costs increased due to COVID-19 mitigation, the parking lot, information technology and other needs.
