Funeral services have been announced for veteran and longtime minister Lee Hoskins, who died Tuesday at age 92.
Hoskins was born in Stanberry, Missouri, in 1928 and served in the United States Army for over 25 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel working in intelligence. He also worked for the US Trust Territories as chief of Micronesia’s Bureau of Investigations before returning to the United States, where he worked for the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs.
Hoskins was a lay minister at Emporia’s Grace United Methodist Church and other community churches across the state. He was also active in the American Legion Post 5, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980, Kiwanis Club and Outlook Club.
Hoskins is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, a sister, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, with burial at 2 pm at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia Friends of the Zoo or the Emporia All Veterans Memorial.
