Visitations are resuming at local long-term care facilities.
Thursday, the Lyon County Commission approved an extension of the county’s Public Health Order which, among other changes, lifted the restrictions on visitations for long-term care facilities that have been in place for over a year now. As such, Holiday Resort is planning to reopen its doors for visitors beginning Monday.
Jamie Hensley of Holiday Resort recently joined KVOE’s Morning Show and says while this is an exciting step, COVID-19 will still have somewhat of an impact on visitation guidelines moving forward.
While Holiday Resort will reopen its doors Monday, visitations have already resumed at Presbyterian Manor. According to Marketing Director Krystal Stock the nursing home resumed visitations for residents last Monday.
Stock says Presbyterian Manor submitted a plan to Lyon County Public Health well in advance of Thursday’s decision by commissioners due to a number of positive trends on the COVID-19 front.
Both facilities are still expressing the need for visitors to practice proper hand hygiene, mask use and social distancing. Additionally, at Holiday Resort indoor visits may be limited if the county positivity rate exceeds 10 percent and less than 70 percent of residents have been vaccinated and tents or designated areas may be set up for outdoor visits based on weather conditions or the health of the resident.
For Presbyterian Manor, visitors must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the past 72 hours or proof of receiving a COVID-19 vaccination for indoor visits. Temperature checks and mask use will be required for all visits whether indoor or outdoor.
Stock says she is hopeful the area is getting to a point where those requirements will no longer be necessary.
