One vehicle and a stone pillar were both damaged following a single-vehicle accident in downtown Emporia Sunday morning.
Emporia Police were called to the intersection of 12th Ave. and Commerical Street around 10:20 am after a vehicle collided with a stone pillar in the area. According to Emporia Police Officer Todd Ayer, a Chrysler Sebring was traveling on East 12th Ave. and was preparing to turn onto Commerical.
The driver then lost control and overcorrected leading to the collision. The accident left the front of the vehicle with major damage and knocked a chunk out of the stone pillar, however, the driver did not require medical attention.
No citations were issued for the accident, the driver’s name is not being released.
