The second finalist to interview on campus for Emporia State University’s provost position looks to focus on the campus-community relationship if she’s hired.
Dr. Aimee Shouse had her turn for a day-long interview process Tuesday. Shouse is currently the dean of Arts, Letters and Sciences at Southwest Minnesota State. Having a solid campus-community relationship is important to Shouse.
Shouse tells KVOE News one of her initial focal points will be increasing enrollment — and, by extension, recruiting.
Shouse says coronavirus may be easing, but its impact may be felt for some time when it comes to education — and that’s not all bad. She says the remote learning aspect can be attractive for students and faculty who are interested in Emporia State but may not be able to come to Emporia for differing reasons.
Shouse follows Cal State-Bakersfield dean of Business and Public Administration Dr. Angappa Gunasekaran in town. Emporia State is interviewing candidates for the provost position this week and next with current provost David Cordle retiring in June. The next interviews are March 25-26.
