Lyon County investigators aren’t saying anything about circumstances or suspects, but they are proceeding as if Tuesday’s fire in Bushong may have been set.
Lyon County Deputy and Fire Investigator Jody Meyers says the fire at 214 East Second was reported shortly after 4:15 pm. A detached garage was fully engulfed in flames. As firefighters worked to get that fire under control, another fire was located inside the house at that address.
Both fires were extinguished relatively quickly. Nobody was home at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.
Shortly after the fires were put out, Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope told KVOE News there were indications of suspicious activity at the garage before the fires were reported. Deputies are working with the Wichita Fire K-9 Accelerant Detection Unit. The investigation continues as a suspicious fire.
