Work has resumed on West 12th Avenue outside Newman Regional Health after a significant water line failure Tuesday morning.
Public Works Director Dean Grant says the tentative plan — weather permitting — is to do some saw cutting to expand the work site and then add some “flowable fill” to the area surrounding the 16-inch line that failed. Concrete work is unlikely with the chances of rain Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Grant anticipates a curb-to-curb cut across 12th to continue the process, and he says the current plan is to fill most of the cutout by Friday. This will let through traffic get by the work zone. It may be until early next week before the cutout is fully patched.
