Fields may be muddy after anywhere from 2-5 inches of rain over the past week, but grasses are apparently susceptible to drying out with breezy conditions coming this weekend.
Chase and Wabaunsee counties have announced separate burn bans now underway. The Chase County ban goes through Monday, while the Wabaunsee County ban ends at 8 pm Sunday.
A high to very high fire danger is in place across the KVOE listening area both Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the 60s and wind gusts at or above 25 mph both days. Sunday is apparently the day of greater concern with wind gusts possible in the 40 mph range.
