The Kansas Corporation Commission is asking Kansas residents to be mindful of a new scam effort.
The KCC has received recent reports of an individual claiming to be with the agency has been calling residents asking if they need assistance in paying their natural gas bills. The KCC is telling residents that any calls claiming to be with the agency offering utility payment assistance is not legitimate.
Residents who receive a call such as this are told not to give out any personal or financial information. Residents in need of assistance with utility payments can contact the Consumer Protection Division by calling 800-662-0027 or 785-271-3140 or by sending an email to public.affairs@kcc.ks.gov.
