Funeral services are coming next week for respected Emporia chiropractor Bryan Douglas who sadly passed away earlier this week.
Douglas passed Tuesday after a battle with kidney cancer at the age of 47. Born in Hutchinson in 1973, Douglas attended Emporia State University playing one season on the men’s basketball team before moving on to Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City.
Douglas would graduate with honors in 1999 and moved to Emporia where he opened Douglas Chiropractic in 2000. In addition to his practice, Douglas was involved heavily within the Emporia community most notably as a member and former president of the Flint Hills Optimist Club. Douglas was also well known as the longtime Chairman and organizer of the annual Flint Hills Optimist All-Star Basketball game.
Current Optimist Club President Steve Younger remembers Douglas as an individual who put his heart and soul into everything he did.
Douglas is survived by his wife of more than 20-years Lori, his children Skyler Eugene and Sydney Rae, his parents, brother Matt, sisters Kerri Thompson and Heather McCullough and his in-laws Jim & Marsha Marsh.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church with burial following at Americus Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed at www.fumchurch.org.
