The final candidate for the ESU provost position will be in Emporia for his formal interview Friday.
Dr. J.S. “Jeff” Elwell previously served as the chancellor of the Eastern New Mexico University System and president of the Portales campus from 2017 to 2020.
Dr. Elwell has also had prior experience serving in a number of capacities at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Auburn University at Montgomery, East Carolina University, the University of Nebraska, Marshall University and Aurora University between 1987 and today.
Dr. Elwell will meet with President Allison Garrett, university vice presidents, the Faculty Senate Executive Board and the Provost Council before touring Emporia. He will also be part of an online webinar where he will discuss his plans for the position and take questions from the campus and community.
