One of the biggest balancing acts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been keeping staff and students safe, but also wanting them back in school full time.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly highlighted the effort to get students back in the classroom during her appearance on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia this past Monday. She’s glad to hear more and more school districts are planning on returning to full in-person classes and says there is aid to assist school districts.
Gov. Kelly is “optimistic” using mitigation strategies and following appropriate guidelines — including recent guidance from the CDC for 3-foot distancing — should prevent any issues. She adds getting teachers vaccinated, and the hope of having students vaccinated before the fall semester is very positive.
USD 253 is set to return to full in-person classes at the middle and high school on Monday, March 29th.
