March has been a damp month, but conditions Monday will be primed for high fire danger instead.
All area counties are in a fire weather watch from noon to 9 pm Monday. High temperatures will approach 80 degrees with wind gusts as high as 50 mph and relative humidity levels at or below 25 percent.
Only four Kansas counties — all in northwest Kansas — are not in a fire weather watch for Monday.
Fire weather watches are notable because they typically turn into red flag warnings, which in turn trigger county-specific burn bans for Lyon County and several surrounding counties. We’ll have updates on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
