Emporia State University continues adding to its course offerings.
ESU will start an Ethnic, Gender and Identity Studies major in its Interdisciplinary Studies program this fall. The bachelor’s degree program essentially lets students build their own degrees from classes offered across subjects and departments. It also lets students better analyze and understand personal and social identity matters in areas like race, ethnicity, gender, sex and age among others.
Director of Ethnic and Gender Studies Mallory Koci says the new program can lead to several career paths, including diversity officer, communication professional, public service administrator, marketing executive, human resource professional, social justice and community outreach.
This is the second new major for ESU announced this month after the university announced a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary entrepreneurship. ESU also announced a new master of science in nursing in January.
