The Emporia State baseball team split their doubleheader with Rogers State Saturday.
The Hornets won the 1st game 10-0 in 7 innings.
Brigham Mooney powered the offense hitting going 2 for 3 at the plate with 4 RBI. He hit a 3 run home run as part of the 5 run 5th inning. Jake Barton was the winning pitcher tossing a 4 hit shutout with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Rogers State won the 2nd game 11-1 in 7 innings.
Emporia State scored the games first run on a wild pitch. Rogers State would score 6 runs in the 4th inning to take control of the game. They added 2 runs in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th.
Rogers State won the series 2 games to 1.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler says they need to become more consistent.
The Hornets are now 7-13 for the season and 4-11 in the MIAA. They are scheduled to play a 9 inning game at Pittsburg State Tuesday.
