The final stage of Flint Hills Technical College’s search for a new president officially begins Monday.
Dr. Caron Daugherty, the one-time Vice Chancellor of Instruction at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Missouri, has a day-long, in-town process starting with media interviews before 8 am Monday. She will meet with college administrators, tour the community and discuss the state of the college with students, staff and community members before officially interviewing with the college’s Board of Trustees.
Daugherty served at Metropolitan from 2019-2020, according to the college. She is also an adjunct English professor at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, Missouri after directing the college’s honors program over a decade ago.
Dr. Herbert Riedel, retired president of Lurleen B Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Alabama, interviews Tuesday. Dr. Sandra Kiddoo, the chief academic officer at Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard, Kentucky, interviews April 5. Both Riedel and Kiddoo will also have day-long interviews in town.
Current President Dean Hollenbeck announced his plan to retire last fall after leading the college since 2006. The college board has said it plans to name Hollenbeck’s replacement in June.
