One person was transported following a single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday afternoon.
According to Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Benjamin Folks a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 21-year-old Richard Parnell Jr of Americus, was traveling eastbound allegedly at a high rate of speed in the 1,000 block of Road 190. Parnell told authorities he tapped his breaks and lost control of the vehicle which then left the roadway and rolled.
A passenger in the vehicle 25-year-old Thelma Brock was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with what are being called non-life-threatening injuries. Parnell Jr refused treatment and claimed he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident but Brock was not.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
