Area residents were well fed Saturday afternoon thanks to a more than two-decade-old event.
The 21st annual North Lyon County Youth Association and Development Center fish fry fundraiser filled up plates and bellies with plenty of fresh fried catfish, chicken fingers, hush puppies and more. After taking a brief hiatus last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event welcomed hundreds of hungry locals throughout the day.
Spokesperson Kiley DeDonder says it felt great to see so many people come out to support the event.
The annual fish fry is the NLCYA’s largest revenue generator and helps to offset operating expenses each year. DeDonder says the organization felt the impact of the event’s absence for a brief time this past year.
Residents had the option of dining in, with social distancing and mask use in effect, carryout or delivery to enjoy their meals. According to DeDonder, the event served over 300 people just during lunchtime.
In addition to the food, residents had the chance to win some wonderful prizes either through a 50/50 raffle or silent auction.
