The pavement markings are all finalized, and come Monday preliminary work officially begins on Emporia’s latest major water line replacement project.
The Emporia Engineering Department is handling the project, which will replace the water main underneath 30th between Crestview and Prairie with related pavement repairs. Through traffic will be closed during the project, which could last four months, depending on the weather. Drivers have already been told to plan ahead with alternate routes of travel for the duration of the project.
This work zone begins as the city of Emporia continues a multi-pronged water main replacement project near Newman Regional Health. Crews began work in December to replace water mains along Elm from Sixth to the hospital and along Ninth between Elm and Lawrence. This project could take several more weeks before it’s completed.
