The Emporia State baseball team split a doubleheader with Newman Saturday.
The Hornets won the first game 24-9 in 7 innings.
Emporia State scored 8 runs in the 4th inning, added 2 in the 5th, 4 runs in the 6th, and scored 7 more runs in the 7th.
Ryan Krolikowski was 4 for 5 with 6 RBI. He hit a 3 run home run in the 6th.
Blake Carroll hit a 2 run home run and Kade Graff added a 3 run home run.
Jake Burton was the winning pitcher.
Newman rallied to win the 2nd game 9-8. Newman scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th to walk off with the win.
Emporia State scored 4 runs in the 6th to break a 1-1 tie. The Hornets then scored 3 runs in the 7th to take an 8-4 lead.
Noah Geeki hit a solo home run.
Ryan Krolikowski hit a 2 run home run in the 6th and Sam Chaput hit a 3 run home run in the 7th.
Emporia State wins the series 2 games to 1. They are now 10-14 for the season and 6-12 in the MIAA.
They are scheduled to play a 3 game series at Washburn beginning Friday.
